STOP Apologizing for Having Feelings
Recently, I had an appointment with a young mom. She came in to buy some essential oils, and instead we ended up having a conversation about overwhelm.
After, she sent me a message apologizing for crying in my office.
My response: Please, never apologize for sharing your feelings. Women apologizing for their feelings is a behavior that needs to be unlearned.
Sharing your feelings isn't a sign of weakness, insecurity, or a socially unacceptable action. It is a sign of a goddamn lioness that feels all the things, and is ready and willing to model this courageous act for the next generation that are in her care right now.
It is OK to have feelings and express them when you are around people that you feel safe with. So if you find yourself saying, "I'm sorry" when you begin to feel some really BIG feelings....STOP YOURSELF and instead, say, "I'm so........ glad you're here."
It's time to UNSUBSCRIBE from the b.s. you were taught that you can't share your feelings, or that if you do, you have to apologize for it.
